Rick Wakeman - Frost In Space
Boxset/Compilation, released in 2001
My review is produced using this release: 2001 Master Music Cz/ BMS Cz 220785 205 (Licensed by Arena Music, UK)
Rating:7,5/10
Rick Wakeman is one of the best keyboarder of the world and his work like sessionman or with the Strawbs, Yes or in his solo albums are one of the higher blows than the music of 20th Century! In this case "Frost In Space is a very good budget compilation with good songs and good instrumental interpretations. The best song are "Catherine Howard (live)", even if too much cools, "Lure Of The Wild" with a Symphonic Space intro with an extreme good synth and and development with rhythmic soli with organ and moog. But all this song is a long solo. "Dancing On Snowflakes", extremely good ambient ballad with piano, acoustic guitar and synth. For the rest good AOR Prog with symphonic structure. Wakeman here it is represented from 9 songs, not all masterpieces (and someone begins to denounce the to passage of the years), but all technically good. I signal the cover of "Eleonor Rigby" (of Lennon and McCartney), nice and with a new very effective arrengement.
"Frost In Space" is only a good budget compilation. But it does not show to be it, Because compiled from expert hands and with a just criterion.
